JHU Baltimore Food Diary ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ““

A mix of hits and misses in the Baltimore food scene โ€“ hereโ€™s the real tea โ˜•๏ธ: ๐Ÿš Korean Food: ๐Ÿ“ Woorijib โ€“ Ox bone soup is comforting and rich! ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ ๐Ÿ“ Chosun Hwaro โ€“ Reputed as the best Korean BBQ in town! ๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿ”ฅ Packed even at 9 PM. Tried the Bulgogi and Emperor Galbi โ€“ juicy and flavorful! ๐Ÿ“ Kong Pocha โ€“ Army stew ๐Ÿฅ˜, soft tofu soup, curry fried chicken ๐Ÿ›, and omurice are all solid. Feels like a cozy underground pub! ๐Ÿ“ Siroo and Juk โ€“ Perfect when you crave porridge! Samgyetang juk (ginseng chicken porridge) is warm and nourishing ๐Ÿฅฃโค๏ธ. ๐Ÿฅข Chinese Food: ๐Ÿ“ Kung Fu Twelve โ€“ My go-to Sichuan spot! ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Beef pocket buns, sour soup with beef, mapo tofu, twice-cooked pork, and salted egg tofu โ€“ all delicious. No regrets ordering anything here! ๐Ÿ“ Hot Pot Hero โ€“ All-you-can-eat hotpot ๐Ÿฒ! Dinner/weekends: $35 per person. Order via iPad โ€“ no need to run around. Great variety! ๐Ÿ“ Water Song Yunnan Cuisine โ€“ Flower cakes ๐ŸŒธ are a must-try! Spicy chicken and rice noodles were just okay. Their steam pot chicken requires 3-hour advance reservation โ€“ didnโ€™t get to try it ๐Ÿ˜ข. ๐Ÿ“ EJJi Ramen โ€“ Located on the 2nd floor of Whole Foods. Run by an Asian couple ๐Ÿœ! Chicken ramen and โ€œWet Birdโ€ ramen are above average. Beef Bulgogi dry noodles are AMAZING โ€“ made with steak cuts, not ground meat, and tossed in numbing peppercorn sauce. So flavorful! Also has soup options. Super convenient near campus โ€“ I go often after class. ๐Ÿ‘Ž Not Recommended: ๐Ÿ“ Orient Express (Chuan Zhi Wei) โ€“ On campusโ€ฆ why do people recommend this?! ๐Ÿ˜ซ The blood tofu in Mao Xue Wang was gross, boiled beef was terrible, โ€œspicy chickenโ€ was just bland fried nuggets. ๐Ÿ“ Sushi Bruce Ya โ€“ My first time was great โ€“ baked scallop roll ๐Ÿฃ and lobster roll were impressive and affordable. Just 10 mins from Inner Harbor. BUT my third visit was awful ๐Ÿ˜ค: strict policies, forced large-party tip ๐Ÿ’ธ for 6+ people (even if seated separately), and the staff had a superior attitude. The hostess repeated their policy three times rudely. Wonโ€™t return โ€“ too many rules and bad service! Let me know if youโ€™ve tried these โ€“ agree or disagree? ๐Ÿ‘‡ #JHUEats #BaltimoreFood #KoreanBBQ #SichuanFood #Hotpot #RamenLover #FoodDiary
