πΈπ― Jizo-in Temple π―πΈ
Jizo-in Temple primarily worships the Jizo of the valley. After passing through the main gate, πΈπΊπΏ one is greeted by the "Bamboo Pilgrimage Path" flanked by bamboo groves on both sides, earning it the nickname "Bamboo Temple". ππ πΈπΊπΏ Ikkyu-san (the clever Ikkyu-san! Kichi-kichi!!!) was born near Jizo-in Temple and took his vows here. Ikkyu was a prince of Emperor Go-Komatsu, and due to his mother's lineage from the powerful Fujiwara clan, πΈπΊπΏ who were political adversaries of the shogunate, the shogun forced the emperor to send Ikkyu's mother to this temple, where Ikkyu lived with her until the age of 6. A statue of "Ikkyu Zenji and His Mother" is also enshrined within the temple. πΆπ© πΈπΊπΏ A major attraction within the temple is its abbot's quarters and the garden. Like traditional Japanese houses, the floor of the abbot's quarters is elevated. πΈπΊπΏ You can sit close to the garden with your legs dangling, enjoying the ecological landscape within the garden. πΏπΌ #JizoInTemple πΊ#BambooTemple πΏ
