Joey: A New Popular Spot at Newport Beach Fashion Island 🥩​

Joey, the newly opened trending restaurant inside Newport Beach Fashion Island, draws a mostly white clientele—and it’s always bustling! Whether it’s lunch or dinner, the place is packed, and the crowd skews younger. We made a reservation ahead of time, and as a nice touch, they offered complimentary champagne at the door 🥂—though it wasn’t anything special, to be honest.​ I’d eaten at the Joey location in downtown Los Angeles before, and that one’s just as busy too! But this Newport Beach outpost has a much nicer, more stylish decor. The menu is the same across locations, and while the prices aren’t cheap, the food mostly delivers.​ For appetizers, we got the crab cake 🦀🦐. We also ordered truffle fries 🍟 for the kids and a grilled cheese sandwich 🥪. My friend and I split a bone-in ribeye steak 🥩—it’s $99 a plate, but the portion is huge, and it was cooked perfectly, nice and tender. Then there was the cheeseburger 🍔—my friend had just come back to the US after a while, and she was dying to have a classic American burger, so that was a must. It was solid, nothing fancy but tasty.​ Overall, the service was great, and the adjacent parking lot is nice and spacious—super convenient.
