Junction Bridge | Experience a Rotating Bridge + Riverside Tram Ride

Attraction Introduction The Junction Bridge is a famous connecting bridge in Arkansas and one of only two remaining railway bridges in Little Rock. 🌉 It links Little Rock and North Little Rock and was originally built in 1884 for railroad transportation. 🛤️ The engineering highlight of the bridge is its rotating midsection, which allows boats to pass through on the Arkansas River. 🚢 By the 1980s, the bridge had ceased operations due to historical changes. In 2006, it was repurposed into a pedestrian and bicycle-only bridge while retaining its original industrial style. 🚴♂️🚶♀️ Today, it stands as one of Little Rock’s iconic landmarks. Personal Experience 1️⃣ Located in the Downtown and River Market area, there are plenty of small shops and restaurants to explore—perfect for strolling and taking photos! 📸 2️⃣ The area around the bridge is spacious. On the Little Rock side, there’s a small park with green plants, blue skies, wooden benches, and rocks—ideal for walks and chats. 🌳☀️ Weekend parking is even free! 🅿️‼️ 3️⃣ The bridge’s viewing platform is great for photos and relaxing. At sunset, the breeze feels especially soothing. 😌 From the bridge, you can also see the USS Razorback (SS-394) submarine, which served in 1944 It’s now part of the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum and open for visits. 🚤 4️⃣ After crossing the bridge, you’ll find an open riverside amusement park with a carousel, a small roller coaster, and other children’s play facilities—perfect for a family day out! 🎠🎢 5️⃣ After getting off the bridge, walk to the Simmons Bank Arena Stop 🚋 and take the free tram back across the river. The tram is charming, and the drivers and attendants are super friendly—they’ll chat with you and recommend fun places to visit! 🗣️❤️ Overall Impression Spending 2-3 hours here is quite enjoyable. Just remember to check the bridge’s nighttime closure schedule to avoid getting stuck! I’ve heard the night lights here are beautiful too! 🌉✨ #BridgesOfTheWorld #LittleRock #Arkansas #RailwayBridge #ArkansasRiver #TravelDiary #USWeekendGetaway #RotatingBridge #NationalRegisterOfHistoricPlaces
