Just Discovered Vaughan Has Quite a Few Italian Restaurants 🍝

After getting my tires changed, I happened to be near Buca Vaughan, so I thought I’d grab some lunch there. But to my dismay, when I arrived at the entrance, I realized Google Maps had led me astray; they only open for dinner on Saturdays, not lunch 😭. My mind was already set on having noodles, so I frantically searched for nearby restaurants. Saw this place with good reviews and decided to give it a try. It’s located in a shopping center, with the restaurant entrance inside the mall. All the doors on the outside of the building are fake 🫠. ▪️ Grilled Calamari: I was torn between fried and grilled, but in the end, I went with grilled for a healthier option. Turned out to be the right choice. It was crispy, tender, slippery, salty, and fresh, cooked to perfection. Paired with bell peppers and corn kernels, it offered a different type of sweetness compared to seafood, making me want to mix it with a bowl of noodles. ▪️ Truffle Tagliatelle: If there’s tagliatelle on the menu, especially with mushrooms, it’s a must-order for me 🤩. The aroma was incredible. It was steaming hot, coated in sauce. The mushrooms weren’t abundant or exceptional, but the truffle fragrance was pronounced, and the texture of the noodles was just right—neither hard nor soft. The sauce was quite thick, almost dry, clinging to the noodles, and this texture was even more pronounced once in the mouth. If you’re not a fan of this kind of texture, you might want to think twice before ordering. Overall, the flavors are on the heavy side; Italian cuisine tends to be a bit salty, so if you prefer milder flavors, you can ask the waiter to have the chef use less salt. The service was fairly quick, which might also be because there were very few lunch customers, only three tables including mine. If you’re in the area, it’s not a bad choice, but it’s not worth making a special trip for.
