Kagawa Prefectural Government Building(1)
Kenzo Tange | Gentle Moments in the Kagawa Prefectural Government Building ๐ฟ๐ I stayed in Takamatsu for the Setouchi Triennale island-hopping tour. ๐ธ๐บI didn't know much about this city before arriving, but once I got here, I discovered it's home to not only two works by Kenzo Tange but also where Isamu Noguchi once lived. So, I took some time out of my island journey to visit. When the taxi arrived, the sky was already overcast, and the streets were nearly deserted. ๐ฟ๐ At first glance, the facade along the street still gave off that cold, oppressive feel typical of concrete buildings. ๐ธ๐บBut upon entering through the front courtyard, I unexpectedly found some warm moments and cute little details. The structure and facade of the prefectural building are very clear and assertive, but the courtyard designโlike the flow of water, the gentle slopes, and the placement of stonesโbrings a sense of movement that softens the building's sternness. #Takamatsu ๐ฟ๐ ๐ธ๐บ #Architecture #KenzoTange #TakamatsuMoments ๐
