Kagawa Prefectural Office โโ Kenzล Tange 1957 ๐๏ธ๐
The design philosophy of the Kagawa Prefectural Office draws from the wooden structures of ancient Eastern architecture, combined with Western architectural techniques and the Japanese concept of "simplicity." ๐๏ธ๐ The simple structure, enhanced by geometry, embodies an enduring sense of beauty. ๐ฟโจ ๐ฟThe Kagawa Prefectural Office consists of two main architectural blocks. The horizontal section is primarily for meetings and relaxation. ๐๏ธ๐ On the second floor, sunlight filters through translucent yellow glass, casting a warm yellow glow that diffuses into every corner of the room... ๐ ๐ฟThe garden of the prefectural office features a small hill and several large rocks. Instead of adopting the Western-style "plaza," the garden reinterprets the unique spatial and expressive qualities of traditional Japanese gardens, aiming to create a plaza that fits the modern era. ๐ฟ ๐๏ธ๐ In the first-floor lobby, there is a large ceramic abstract painting by Inumaru Genichirล titled "Sun and Moon." Despite being an administrative office, there is no sense of sternness or tension. ๐ฟ Instead, the beauty arises from the harmonious interplay between the architecture and its environment. ๐จ ๐๏ธ๐ #KenzลTange #Kagawa #KagawaPrefecturalOffice
