Kamloops Food Find | A Local-Recommended Western Restaurant

During our weekend getaway to Kamloops, our Airbnb host recommended Underbelly—and at first glance at the menu online, we noticed it felt oddly familiar to The Noble Pig. Turns out, they're sister restaurants under the same owner (who also runs The Noble Pig, another well-rated spot in town). Here's what we ordered: 🍕 Taste of Summer Flatbread Tomatoes + brie cheese for a light, fresh flavor. Topped with basil and mint—while refreshing, the mint was a bit too bold for our taste. Not mind-blowing, but pleasant. 🥗 Cheesesteak + Garden Salad Not your traditional cheesesteak sandwich! This version uses focaccia as the base, layered with veggies, beef, and a glorious blanket of melted cheese. Tasty! Though we wished there was more meat for that classic cheesesteak satisfaction. The Garden Salad (technically a side) was shockingly good—packed with nuts, dried apricots, and a well-balanced vinaigrette. Way better than fries! 🍝 Carbonara Recommended by our server, and surprisingly not heavy like other versions we’ve tried. No cream here (apparently, the authentic Italian way), just peppery, savory goodness with crispy bacon. The garlic bread was meh alone but perfect for mopping up the leftover sauce 😝 Verdict: A solid choice! The owner clearly knows how to run a restaurant—dishes are well-designed, and it’s unlikely you’ll hit a dud. Worth a stop if you're passing through, but not a destination-worthy detour for Vancouverites (we’ve got plenty of top-tier options at home 🤭). 📍 Underbelly - by the pig 120 5 Ave, Kamloops, BC V2C 3P8 #FoodieExplorer #KamloopsEats #TravelEats #BCFoodScene #HiddenGems #EatLikeALocal
