Kandy | Encountered the first rain since arriving in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

It was only 9 AM, and again I was climbing a long slope under the scorching sun to reach the Dambulla Cave Temple. 🌟 🏛️I encountered monkey groups once more, and almost all the dogs I saw were fast asleep. I strongly recommend that every friend visiting Sri Lanka bring a pair of long pants or a cloth to cover their legs.🛵 Because when entering temples, you’re not allowed to wear short pants and must go barefoot – there’s no need to pay to rent them at the scenic spot entrance every time.🎊 ✨✨Like other scenic spots I visited in central Sri Lanka, the cave temple felt really "ordinary", and the tickets for foreign tourists are not cheap. Maybe it has profound historical heritage, but as an outsider, I know very little about it. 💕 💖Fortunately, my mindset is: since I’m here, it’s nice to experience the local culture. In Matale, I visited the Hindu temple Kataragama Devalaya. I encountered many people in Indian attire praying there. 💞 🍚🍚The tallest building was still under renovation, with simple steel frames set up around it. The workers were sitting on them to construct, with no obvious safety protection measures – they were really brave.🏵️ 🙊Matale can be regarded as a lively city in the central region. There was a section of road where we encountered a traffic jam. The urban construction looks similar to that of a county town in China. On the way south, we accidentally came across an Indian festival event. 🕊️ 🐾Men hung on wooden stakes, and women shouted along with the procession – it was quite curious and interesting.🍐🎼 A must-visit attraction in Kandy is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. The buildings are beautiful, and local people come in a continuous stream, holding flowers to pray . You have to take off your shoes both inside and outside the temple. After a day’s trip, the soles of my socks were already. 😊😊 Next to it is Kandy Lake, where night herons, pond herons, and egrets can be seen everywhere. ✨ 🌟🌳The trees are densely covered with nests, and the ground beneath is densely covered with droppings. At that time, I thought that Brother 9, a bird-watching enthusiast, would definitely love it here, so I immediately recommended it to him.🌷 🌼For lunch, we found an Indian restaurant called Indian Summer, a chain in Sri Lanka. The taste was average, but anyway, I’m satisfied as long as there’s red curry and naan.🏵️ It was still raining after the meal, so we rested in a café by Kandy Lake, watching the lively egrets scurrying up and down beside the trees.🌲🌲 When the rain stopped, we went up the mountain to overlook Kandy city from Kandy Viewpoint. There were still dark clouds lingering, and it felt like the sky was getting dark before 5 PM. Nearby, there was a cultural dance show. 🎋 🙉🙉There are several Sri Lankan cultural performances every day (the latest one is from 5 PM to 6 PM), featuring gongs and drums, singing and dancing, music playing, and fire performances. My personal evaluation is "it’s okay to watch". To be honest, although the central scenic spots are quite ordinary, when you see many passers-by smiling at you, a group of children on the bus waving at you, and students in white uniforms by the football field saying hello to you, it’s hard not to feel happy. 🦋 🦕Maybe this is the most human part of the Land of Smiles. #Kandy #KandyLake #SriLankaKandyLake #SriLankaKandy #SriLanka #SriLankaTravel #KandyTravel
