Karachi: A Mix of Leisure and Tension ๐Ÿ˜…๐ŸŒ†

Known as one of the worldโ€™s top ten most dangerous cities, Karachi is a place of stark contrasts. The city is vast, with extreme wealth inequality โ€” you can see skyscrapers one moment and slums the next. ๐Ÿ™๏ธโžก๏ธ๐Ÿ›– The overall vibe is chaotic. With recent increases in terrorist attacks, the city is on high alert. As a Chinese visitor, going out often means staying low-key โ€” otherwise, you might end up with undercover police following you for "protection." ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ So what can you actually do in Karachi? ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ  Pakistan National Museum After visiting the relatively small museum in Islamabad, I was curious about this one. As the former capital and the birthplace of Jinnah, Karachi is home to the countryโ€™s largest national museum. It traces Pakistanโ€™s history from the Stone Age to modern times and even has a special gallery for Hindu and Buddhist artifacts. While the collection is interesting, itโ€™s not very extensive. Also, most halls arenโ€™t air-conditioned โ€” except those displaying Quranic manuscripts. ๐ŸŽซ Ticket: 300 RS (foreigners), 20 RS (locals) ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Two floors โ€” first floor has two galleries, second has several. A great escape from the daytime heat! โ˜€๏ธโžก๏ธโ„๏ธ ๐Ÿ•Œ Mohatta Palace ๐ŸŽซ 100 RS โ€” but phones are taken at entry; no photography allowed inside ๐Ÿ˜ข The first floor displays rare historical photos of Jinnah (handsome in his youth!) and his beautiful daughter. The second floor features local art and traditional clothing. Why no photos? It feels like a missed opportunity for promotion. You CAN take photos outside though! Nearby, thereโ€™s a small peacock farm โ€” I was lucky enough to see a few spreading their tails ๐Ÿฆšโœจ โ€” hoping it brings good luck! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Mazar-e-Quaid (Jinnah Mausoleum) The final resting place of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Inside hangs a grand crystal chandelier โ€” a gift from Premier Zhou Enlai. Unfortunately, it was closed when I visited. ๐Ÿ˜” A small museum next door is open to the public. ๐ŸŽซ Super affordable โ€” just 1-2 RMB equivalent.
