Kensington Market 🌈

📍Kensington Market is one of Toronto’s oldest traditional markets, located west of Chinatown Central, stretching from Dundas St. 🌅🌄 🧙‍♀️ in the south to College St. in the north, and from Bathurst St. in the west to Spadina Ave. in the east. 🌿 The market mainly deals in traditional handicrafts, ☕vintage items, and antiques from Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North America, and Asia. It is very popular with the younger generation and tourists. 🌍 📍📍This market actually originated as a Jewish market in the 1920s. Back then, 80% of Toronto’s Jewish population lived here. 🧙‍♀️ This business-savvy community turned their front lawns, porches, and even neighbors’ living rooms into shops, and that’s how Kensington Market was born. 🕍 🌈As the community grew more affluent, many of the original Jewish residents moved to wealthier suburban neighborhoods.☕ Gradually, the area was taken over by later waves of immigrants from Portugal, the West Indies, Korea, and China, giving it a truly multicultural vibe. 🌈 #KensingtonMarket #LifeInToronto #Toronto🌅
