Korean Oppaโs Top Pick for Authentic LA Korean Food! ๐ฐ๐ทโจ
My one Korean friend always brings his foreign friends here. He says the owner immigrated a long time ago, so the flavors stay super traditional โ even more authentic than some places in Korea today. โGam Jaโ in the name means potato ๐ฅ, but it also refers to pork spine, so we ordered their signature โ gamjatang (pork spine & potato stew) ๐ฒ. The perilla leaves ๐ soaked in the broth taste incredible! If you donโt like perilla, you can ask them to leave it out. The meat is super tender, potatoes soft and flavorful โ so delicious! ๐คค The banchan is also on point! At the end, they even serve freshly stir-fried kimchi seaweed rice โ slightly tangy and seriously tasty! My friend also highly recommends traditional Korean rice wine โ makkoli ๐ถ (heโd already had two bottles at lunch ๐). It tastes like beer mixed with sparkling water, but I still prefer yogurt soju. The place is almost all Koreans, very few foreigners โ feels like stepping into a local Korean joint!
