Higashi Hongan-ji was such a delightful surprise! π ππΈ The main hall here is incredibly majestic, with a towering roof that seems to touch the sky! What really caught my eye was the understated yet luxurious black and gold color scheme. The shimmering gold decorations on the solemn wooden structure look like an incredibly elegant gown, exuding a sense of nobility and grandeur. And the best part? It's all free! π ππΈ Even better, the place was surprisingly empty! The entire temple was so quiet. Walking through the spacious corridors, with sunlight streaming through the eaves, I felt like I had traveled back in time to become a hermit for a day. The black and gold beams looked especially solemn in the sunlight, and sitting inside the hall, I felt my restless heart instantly calm down. π ππΈ If you're visiting Kyoto, you absolutely have to visit Higashi Hongan-ji to experience this understated luxury and healing tranquility.
