Kyoto Ancient Architecture Tour · Part 2: Philosopher’s Path 🍃✨
🔹 Eikan-do Zenrin-ji: As you stroll along the Philosopher’s Path, you’ll come across Eikan-do. The most striking feature here is the Mikaeri Amida Nyorai Statue, a rare and beautifully crafted figure of Amida Buddha looking over his shoulder. Legend has it that while Eikan, the temple’s founder, was walking and chanting, he saw Amida Buddha step down from his altar to walk beside him. When Eikan slowed down in awe, the Buddha turned back and said, “Eikan, you are late.” A truly Zen-like story. 🧘♀️ 🔹 Nanzen-ji: Near Eikan-do is Nanzen-ji, famous for its massive Sanmon Gate and the aqueduct (Suiro-kaku) built during the Meiji era to channel water. This marks the end of the Philosopher’s Path. I absolutely loved this route—imagine how stunning it must be in spring with cherry blossoms in full bloom! 🌸 #KyotoArchitecture #PhilosophersPath 🌊🎢🌸🌿🌇
