Honno-ji πΏ The Honno-ji Incident, the biggest black swan event in Japanese history, took place at Honno-ji Temple. πΈπ However, the current Honno-ji is a reconstruction at a different location. The original site now houses a fire station... Inside Honno-ji, there is a shrine dedicated to Oda Nobunaga, commemorating this legendary figure in Japanese history who met his end here. πΈπ I spent 700 yen on an ofuda (a type of talisman) here, but it turned out to be printed. ("ββ‘β) Ikeda-ya π° Amidst the turbulent times of Kyoto in the Bakumatsu period, the famous Shinsengumi, the shogunate's security force, made their name in a battle at Ikeda-ya. πΈπ Toshizo Hijikata and others, clad in chain mail and wielding katana, stormed Ikeda-ya and engaged in fierce combat with the Choshu samurai who were plotting to set fire to Kyoto and kidnap the emperor. They killed seven and injured eleven, with only Heisuke Takeda of the Shinsengumi being wounded. This battle brought them great fame. πΈπ Today, Ikeda-ya is still in business, and it even displays the Shinsengumi's "Makoto" banner and their light blue mountain-shaped pattern haori. #Kyoto πΊ
