Kyoto Nijo Castle

Honmaru ๐Ÿฐ The history of Honmaru is not as long as that of Ninomaru, and it has experienced fires. ๐Ÿก๐ŸŒฟ The current Honmaru Goten is what it looks like after being rebuilt in the Meiji period. ๐ŸŒ‡๐ŸŒฟHonmaru also has a garden, which does not have a pond and adopts a modern design. So overall, Honmaru gives me the feeling of a modern high-end villa area. ๐Ÿก๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿก๐ŸŒฟ Tenshu-gakurei Ruins Most Japanese castles have a Tenshu, but Nijo Castle does not. The Tenshu of Nijo Castle was burned down by lightning in 1750 and was not rebuilt afterwards. Now, the foundation ruins are left at the southwest corner of Honmaru. ๐ŸŒ‡๐ŸŒฟ From the ruins, you can overlook the entire Honmaru area and even see Mount Hiei in the background. #Kyoto ๐ŸŒ‡๐ŸŒฟ
