LA’s Beloved Comfort Spot 🍽️ Super Affordable Brunch & Late-Night Eat
ABC Cafe in Monterey Park’s Ding Pang Zi Plaza is truly a cherished memory for so many of us in LA. Ten-plus years ago, we’d drive all the way from USC or UCLA every few days just to eat here— whether for a weekend Chinese brunch or a late-night bite. It’s all about that familiar taste and the comforting feeling of nostalgia. 🥢💛 I hadn’t been back in years since graduating, but yesterday I passed by, and memories came flooding back—I rushed right in! Even though it’s been renovated, the menu is still full of those classic dishes. We ordered the steak with two sunny-side-up eggs—such a great deal! A huge steak for under $20, served with two eggs, mashed potatoes, and a side of pasta. The portion was so big two of us couldn’t finish it… and it’s only $17 during dinner hours! 🥩🍳 Also, the curry beef brisket is still as satisfying as ever—perfect with rice. The satay beef instant noodles were rich and flavorful, packed with tender, generous chunks of meat. The baked pasta with meat sauce was loaded with thick cheese and meat—so hearty! 🧀🍝 And of course, we had to get the pineapple bun 🍍—a must-order, especially with a thick slab of butter. We’d always pair it with a cup of Ovaltine… pure happiness! (Their lemon Coke and lemon Sprite are also super refreshing! 🥤) Four of us ate a whole table full of food for just over $20 per person—and we still had leftovers! The value is still unbeatable… it’s honestly touching 😢 Supporting a long-standing, honest local spot—I hope everyone gives it a try!
