LAβs Best Yakitori β Fight Me π’π₯
Torihei Yakitori Robata Dining After seeing the Getty Center and getting stuck in 1.5 hours of traffic, we finally made it to Torrance to try the so-called β#1 yakitori in LAβ β and it did not disappoint! Overall, both the yakitori and oden met expectations, and the small plates were surprisingly delicious. β Recommended: Salt-grilled Chicken Thigh β Perfectly cooked: slightly crispy skin, just done, incredibly juicy. π Grilled Chicken Offal β All spot on: liver was tender and smooth, heart and gizzard cooked just right. Oden β Each ingredient came in a subtly different broth β light, flavorful, and refreshing. Highly recommend as a final palate-cleanser. π’ Appetizer Trio β Honestly better than most izakaya starters β a great way to begin the meal. β Not Recommended: Scallion Chicken Thigh (with sauce) β For some reason, it came out overcooked, and the glaze was a bit too heavy for me (stick to salt-grilled here). Chicken Breast with Plum Sauce β Topped with shiso strips β creative, but the sauce was too salty and the breast was dry (I had hoped LAβs βbestβ would nail this tricky cutβ¦). Chicken Cartilage β Used the cartilage below the breast with a bit of meat attached β came out dry and bland. Havenβt tried that many yakitori spots in LA yet, but this one feels top-tier to me.
