LA’s Endless Architecture|Neutra VDL House 🏛️✨
Neutra VDL House by Richard Neutra in Silver Lake It’s hard to believe this architectural gem was built in 1932—so strikingly modern! 🖼️ Designed as both a home and a masterpiece by the legendary architect Richard Neutra, it stands as a shining example of modernist architecture. The entire structure, crafted from metal and glass, is embraced by lush greenery 🌿, allowing natural light to flood the interiors and highlighting the warm, golden tones of the furniture. During the tour, I paused by the bookshelf on the second floor and gazed out through the large glass windows—past the thriving trees—to catch a glimpse of Silver Lake in the distance. Turning around, I looked from the living room toward the kitchen and noticed the beautifully intentional emptiness of the corner space. Every detail is thoughtfully placed… Neutra truly was a genius! 👏🏼💡 Our guide, an architecture student, shared fun facts—like how each level of the house incorporates water 💧: a small pond graces the garden on the first floor, another pool rests on the second, and the third floor opens to an outdoor garden. When the house was first built, there were no neighbors around. Later, when another house went up next door, Richard Neutra found it so unattractive that he added a glass barrier on the rooftop garden. Not only did it block the view, but it also reflected his own beautiful greenery—a genius move! 😆🌳 The house once suffered a fire but has been lovingly restored and is now beautifully maintained. These days, it regularly hosts art exhibitions—check their Instagram for the latest updates! 📲🎨 Looking back through my photos after the visit, I realized I had accidentally captured another Richard Neutra building last year in Palm Springs… I guess some encounters are just meant to be! 💫❤️ #LAArchitecture #LosAngeles #LALife #ArchitecturalDesign #Architecture #LAWeekend #ResidentialDesign #ModernistArchitecture #SilverLake #NeutraVDL
