LA’s New Guizhou Gem — Am I Dining or Visiting an Art Gallery? 🎨
This new Guizhou spot in Alhambra is too cool—Hengry blends regional Chinese flavors with a gallery-like vibe, and I’m here for it! We went around 9 PM for their Guizhou-style barbecue, which is already rare in LA—let alone done with this much style. The star is definitely the fish mint dipping sauce—an acquired taste, but totally addictive once you’re into it (my northern friend wasn’t convinced though 😅). Beyond skewers, they serve Guizhou street snacks like crispy potato cakes and stuffed tofu balls—unique, tasty, and hard to find elsewhere. Also loved the Guairu Rice, a flavorful fried rice studded with—you guessed it—more fish mint! The space feels like something out of DTLA’s Arts District: curated lighting, interesting art, moody and intimate—perfect for dates or a chic night out. Who knew you could get this kind of “pretty dining” atmosphere right in the SGV? I’ll definitely be back during dinner hours to try their full Guizhou menu. More spots like this in the 626, please! 🙌 📍 Hengry (Alhambra) #FoodInspo #LADiscovery #LAEats #AlhambraEats#GuizhouCuisine #ArtGalleryVibes #SkewerNight #LateNightBites
