LA｜Incomplete Fall Food Summary

As expected — couldn’t fit everything in one post. No time for a second one, so restaurants left out — see you next time maybe 😉 💰💰 $50–100 per person Gouli Chaoshan Cuisine I really like this place 👍 Fulfilled my dream of eating Chaoshan beef hot pot in the US — meat quality is solid (of course not like back home 😅). The beef cartilage was a bit underwhelming, but the marinated platter and appetizers were tasty. Shunde Hot Pot Another favorite 😍 Never expected to find such authentic “lou gai” (shredded chicken salad) here. The rice congee broth was perfect — though the beef could be better. Lawry’s Prime Rib A classic prime rib spot — nothing special. The salad performance was kinda funny though 🤣 Javier’s Went to the Crystal Cove location — views are stunning, especially at sunset. Food was just okay — portions are huge. 💰 Under $50 per person Cafe Orleans (Disneyland) Saw many people rave about their chicken rice — turns out小红书 recs are hit or miss 🫠 Everything else was fine 😅 But I do recommend Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta in a quiet corner of Adventure Park — food’s average, but it’s peaceful and uncrowded 😌 Erwa Cold Pot Fish Delicious, affordable, decently spicy. We added frog legs — so good! Tai Er Sauerkraut Fish A sentimental favorite for me. Who cares if it’s pre-made? Just go for it! Hinodeya & Afuri Hinodeya wowed me the first time, though consistency varies. Afuri — a ramen I liked in Houston — had to support it in LA 🍜 Feng Ying & Fen Ai Noodle Feng Ying’s broth tasted odd to me. Fen Ai Noodle’s potato noodles were meh, but the chicken skeleton was nice. Mama Lu’s Went on their opening day — nice decor and service (free scallion pancakes!), but the food was just okay. Haven’t been back. Sichuan Impression Had a good experience at their eastside location, but the westside spot shattered the illusion — didn’t even take the leftovers home.
