LA / Irvine|🍱 Japanese Izakaya Honda-Ya
First meal back in California! I don’t usually go for Japanese or raw food much, but overall the flavors here were pretty solid. Had limited stomach space, so there’s more I want to try next time 😆 🍥 5-Kind Mixed Sashimi Tuna, yellowtail, salmon, white fish, albacore. Since I rarely eat raw, it tasted fresh to me — nothing extraordinary, but decent. Finished it all! 🍥 Shishito Peppers with Soy Sauce Ordered out of curiosity 😂 Nice and oily, even better with extra chili powder and salt. Perfect with alcohol — too bad I was driving. 🍥 Eel & Cucumber Hand Roll Couldn’t find it on the menu, so the server helped us order it. Tasted exactly like what you’d expect from an eel hand roll — simple and good! 🍥 Yakitori (Skewers) Didn’t order many, but here’s my take: 🍢 Liver — So fragrant and delicious! I love organ meats 😍 🍢 Cheese Meatball — Wasn’t expecting much, but meat + cheese = heavenly combo. 🍢 Duck Skewer — Just okay. 🍢 Eel Skewer — Also okay, but the small bones affected the texture a bit. 🍥 Seafood Zosui (Rice Soup) Highly recommend! A warm, comforting rice porridge with tuna, salmon, white fish, and big chunks of egg — so soothing. 🍥 Okonomiyaki Served sizzling on a hot iron plate — super fragrant and delicious! 📍 Honda-Ya 556 El Camino Real, Tustin, CA 92780, United States #JapaneseFood #FoodReview #EatDrinkFun #LA #LAEats 🍶✨
