LA | Baroo | A Happy $200 Beef Rice Bowl Experience

First of all, Baroo is delicious—no doubt about it 😋 But this meal left me with mixed feelings: On one hand, it tasted great; on the other, I couldn’t help thinking… Is this just Korean-style “simple cooking” taken to a fancy level? 🤔 Flavor-wise, everything was well-balanced and very Asian-palate-friendly—unsurprising since it’s Asian-owned 🍚✨ The ambiance was intimate and romantic, with soft, dim lighting that set a cozy mood 🕯️❤️ Each dish felt familiar yet hard to pinpoint—like “a taste from childhood,” as my friend described it. The fish and beef were especially tender and flavorful 🐟🥩 However! The “kimchi” tasted just like Northeastern Chinese pickled cabbage, stirring up that complicated feeling of seeing one cuisine openly inspired by another… yet my inner foodie couldn’t resist taking another bite 😅 The lobster tempura took forever to arrive—the pacing between courses felt off ⏳ But the servers were so genuinely warm and kind that I didn’t even mind waiting 🥹 Throughout the meal, I kept wondering: Is this worth $150? When the bill came, it turned out to be $115 + $12 for swapping pork with beef—suddenly, I felt perfectly happy to pay $127 for such a tasty experience 💸✅ The “8+1” drink was lovely too 🍸 Final damage: around $200 per person—acceptable for a special night out. Most importantly, sharing laughs, gossip, and great food with a friend made it all worthwhile 👭💖 Sometimes, it’s not just about the food—it’s about the moment, the company, and the memories you make around the table 🥂✨ #Foodie #LifeAbroad #LAEats #CreativeCuisine #CozyVibes #DateNight #FoodThoughts #CaliforniaDining #MemorableMeals #EatWithFriends
