LA | Inaba: Now I Get What “Food High” Means 🍣🎶

A dinner with close friends—they’ve been raving about how Inaba keeps getting better, how every visit feels like a “food high.” My expectations were sky-high… and they were met. Eight of us, plenty to drink, and Yasu-san happily played guitar and sang between courses—his “Lemon” was especially moving! 🎸✨ Now, the food: The smoked toro was unforgettable—deep, rich, smoky, lingering on the palate. The marinated turban shell had a sweet-salty finish, with that last bit of roe perfectly infused. The monkfish liver (often called LA’s best) was luxuriously smooth, with a lingering umami punch. We even compared male and female uni—flavor profiles so distinct (Yasu-san joked that the male box was $40 more expensive, so he was a little hurt when we leaned toward the female! 😂). The fried ribbonfish roll was a crispy, tender “tempura” bonus. Usually, I just tag along when friends book omakase—but after Inaba, I’m ready to make my own reservation. The craving is real. #LifeAbroad #FoodPhotography #JapaneseCuisine #FoodLove #Omakase #SoCalLife #LADiningGuide #Uni #Food #Sushi
