LA | It's Hard to Go Wrong with Fine Dining Seafood đ
A bit tired of omakase lately, so I switched things up with some "white people food" for a change. Providence in West Hollywood is a well-established two-star Michelin spot that's been around for over a decade, and their offerings are generally quite reliable. Plus, with seafood, thereâs always plenty of variety to explore â their seasonal menus are worth trying year-round. The appetizers were delicious, and the seafood courses in the middle were all pretty solid. Though, the abalone came with fava beans that tasted a bit raw â seems like Western cooking often keeps them on the fresher side, unlike in Asian cuisine where theyâre fully cooked through.đđ The black cod later in the meal was absolutely exceptional â melt-in-your-mouth tender, no exaggeration. Probably the best-prepared black cod Iâve had in California.đđ For the main, I went with duck breast. It was decent, nothing groundbreaking, but definitely not a letdown either. Dessert was a nice little surprise. The pastry chefâs homemade chocolate stood out clearly from commercial stuff, and the petit fours at the end werenât overly sweet â pretty good by Western restaurant standards. And just whispering here⌠two-star spots seem way less likely to disappoint than three-stars. Sometimes it feels like the three-stars are all about who you know đ #LA #LAEats #LAFoodie #MichelinGuide #FineDiningLA #SeafoodLover #ProvidenceLA
