LA | Kogane: Wish I’d Come Sooner! 🍣✨

This omakase is incredibly generous—both bafun and murasaki uni, plus crab and prawn courses, all for around $300. The chef noticed I wasn’t a fan of kohada and prepared it differently for me—a thoughtful touch that made it much more enjoyable. The seasoning throughout was delicate, never overly salty—a refreshing change. And the chef was hilarious and engaging—we laughed all night, and the pacing felt just right. He’s also a wine connoisseur: he tasted our bottle and immediately guessed Burgundy. Impressive! 🍷😄 Highlights included the 40-minute-massaged octopus (tender, not briny), 20-day-aged toro (buttery and smooth), and a mid-course fried fish so juicy it burst with heat and flavor—I burned my lip but had zero regrets. 🐟🔥 All the tuna is aged, which added depth, and the grilled sea bass was universally loved—simply fragrant and perfect. I’ll definitely be back to Kogane. It’s omakase done with heart, humor, and serious skill. ❤️🍶 #Food #LifeAbroad #FoodPhotography #LADiningGuide #FoodDiary #LAEats #HiddenGems #Omakase #JapaneseCuisine #Uni
