Tonight really proved the point: “Ask first—worst they can say is no.” As a newer spot, the menu isn’t wildly different from others in this range, but the chef’s sincerity stands out! Though I’ll be honest—knife skills could use some refining… but the flavors won us over completely. Every course tasted balanced and thoughtful, pairing beautifully with our sake. 🍶 It’s just the chef working solo, no sous, yet the pacing felt smooth and intentional. Tempura was fried to order—crisp, light, perfect. We asked if scallops were available for the chef’s special… and he prepared a double portion just for us! 🥹 Then we inquired about futomaki—he crafted a lavish, gold-dusted roll on the spot. 😂 We even added à la carte fish (very fairly priced) and, because the fruit was so good, he sliced us extra oranges. You can tell he’s passionate—he carefully presents each dish for photos, maybe hoping word spreads. And he truly went above and beyond for our “unreasonable” requests. No corkage fee since they don’t serve sake yet—final bill, all included: just $235.
