LA | OmGino | Why Didn’t I Lead with the Truffle Uni Pasta Pic?
Because everything else was just as generous! 🦀 Big crab — gorgeous, sweet and in season. As someone not usually into silver-skinned fish, tonight totally won me over — not a trace of blood or acidity all evening. Oddly, Gino isn’t exactly traditional Japanese — the chef is Korean, and the progression isn’t strictly sequential. I was even surprised the truffle uni pasta came before the sushi! Thankfully there was a small tomato course to refresh the palate (though still bold). 🍲 Chawanmushi — loved the lobster bisque style (felt like being back at Lei Garden!).😍🙌 Overall a nice experience — if you’re going for something different, it’s worth a try. But for those used to more traditional omakase, it might not hit the same.❤️😘 Personally, I don’t think it tops some other LA spots in the same price range… though it looks lavish — tuna, uni, crab, truffle all make an appearance.
