LA | Rehearsing Our New Year’s Feast 🧧🦆
With Lunar New Year coming up, some people are practicing their home-cooked feasts — but our kitchen skills are… limited 😅 So we decided to do a “rehearsal dinner” at a restaurant instead! I’d seen people asking about the best Peking duck in LA, and since this is a relaunch of a classic spot, I had to try it. 🦆 Peking Duck Must order one hour ahead! The skin was super crispy, and the pancakes were easy to separate — no sticking! Every bite was flavorful and well-balanced. 🍲 Sour Radish Duck Bone Soup A tangy twist on the usual broth — really cuts through the richness of the duck. 🌶️ Signature Dry-Braised Frog Spicy, savory, with big chunks of fresh frog meat. Highly recommend! 🥘 Maoxuewang (Spicy Blood & Tofu Stew) So fragrant and numbing — perfect with rice. 🐑 Boneless Lamb in Spicy Sauce Tasted just like the Sichuan lamb I grew up eating in LA — a true nostalgic hit! 🐟 Steamed Live Fish Unbelievably priced at $12.99 on weekdays — comes with rice! Add $1 for a lemon plum tea. A total steal. 🥡 Other Favorites: Garlic pea shoots, fluffy brown sugar buns (so big but so good!), husband-and-wife lungs slices, and massive portions of Sichuan pepper chicken. Honestly, eating Chinese stir-fry in LA feels more worthwhile than hotpot or mala tang lately — and their weekday lunch & dinner specials are full of诚意. 📍 Spicy Home 15842 Gale Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745 #SpicyHomeLA #PekingDuckLA #ChineseNewYearEats #LAChineseFood #WeekdaySpecials #SichuanCuisine #FoodRehearsal #LunarNewYearPrep 🥢🎉🔥🍚
