LA | Sawa | That Rice Was Seriously Warm!

I’m not sure why it took me so long to try Sawa, especially with friends constantly recommending it 🍣✨ But honestly, the first three courses left me a bit confused (and quietly unimpressed 😅)—until my friend whispered, “Does this taste worse than before?” We immediately agreed. We even bumped into other friends dining there the same night, who gently hinted that the shrimp felt homemade and the tempura reminded them of campus-side fried snacks 😂 Thankfully, the sushi portion was solid—the fish quality and seasoning were pretty good overall 🐟💖 The hand rolls were my favorite, and I noticed my appreciation for silver-skinned fish is definitely growing! That said, the rice temperature threw me off—a couple of pieces were genuinely hot to the bite 🔥😳 And for my taste, the acidity could have been a touch stronger. My favorite dish of the night? The cheesecake at the end—unexpectedly delicious and unlike any I’ve had before 🍰❤️ I will say, their drink menu and pairings show thoughtful creativity 🍶📜 There was one particular sake I loved but forgot the name of—next time, I’m snapping a photo for sure! Given it’s called Bar Sawa, the focus on drinks does make sense 🥂 From traditional nigiri to creative desserts and curated sakes, Sawa offers a mix of hits and surprises—a spot worth trying, especially if you’re there for the sushi and sips. #Foodie #Omakase #LAEats #SushiBar #JapaneseCuisine #SakeLover #DiningOut #FoodReview #HiddenGem #EatDrinkRepeat
