LA | Super Popular Korean Rice Pot — Aromatic Beef Rice Bowl 🥘
I knew this place was popular, so I showed up at 11 AM on a Sunday—and thankfully, no line! It totally lived up to the hype. I’d never tried gopchang rice pot before—it’s similar to clay pot rice, but the technique creates a delicious crust while locking in the natural flavors of the ingredients. 🥩 Scallion Beef Rice Pot The beef was perfectly sized—charred on the outside, juicy and tender inside. We broke the egg yolk and mixed it with the scallions, then added just a bit of the tangy dipping sauce (it’s strong, so go easy!). So satisfying! 🐟 Eel Rice Pot with Crispy Skin The eel skin was wonderfully chewy yet crispy, and the tender eel paired beautifully with the crunchy rice crust at the bottom. Absolutely irresistible! 🍆 Spicy Eggplant & Minced Pork Rice Pot So good!! This combo looked simple, and I almost skipped it—but thanks to all the recommendations, I gave it a try. The savory minced pork and fragrant eggplant blended perfectly with the sweet, fluffy rice. I couldn’t stop scooping it up—so glad I didn’t miss out! Each rice pot comes with banchan (side dishes) and a light broth. At the end, pour the broth into the pot to loosen the crispy rice—similar to ochazuke (tea泡饭). I left wanting to recreate this at home, but without the special pot, it’s just not the same. Guess I’ll have to go back soon! 💡 Parking Tip: The plaza parking is crazy expensive—save $20 by parking at Hmart and walking over. 👩💻 By day, I’m a data scientist in tech; by night, a foodie sharing hidden gems across LA and the Bay.
