๐Ÿฃ LA | Sushi Takeda โ€“ Bursting Uni

Itโ€™s been a while since my last visit to Sushi Takeda! With sardine season in full swing ๐ŸŸ, I couldnโ€™t resist their famous sardine roll โ€” so I went on a whim! Itโ€™s been a year since I last dined here. The lunch price remains the same, though dinner has dropped from $280 to $180. This time, I tried the lunch omakase. The ingredients were solid ๐Ÿ‘Œ, but maybe because we were the first seating, the seasoning didnโ€™t feel as mind-blowing as before โ€” still, most pieces were excellent! Hereโ€™s the nigiri lineup: ๐Ÿฃ Wild Hamachi Rich and buttery, though with a slight fishy note. ๐Ÿฃ Chutoro Melt-in-your-mouth tender, with that signature toro richness โ€” beautifully aged! ๐Ÿฃ Kinmedai One of my favorite white fish โ€” lightly aged with delicate aroma. ๐Ÿฃ Halibut (Engawa) Chewy and bright with a tangy sauce โ€” slightly overshadowed the fish, but still good. ๐Ÿฃ Aji (Horse Mackerel) Fatty and flavorful, though the aftertaste was a bit strong for me. ๐Ÿฃ Hotate (Scallop) Sweet, plump, and bouncy โ€” always a delight. ๐Ÿฃ Akami Marinated Tuna Simple and clean, though some tendons remained. ๐Ÿฃ Smoked Bankura (Mackerel) Lightly grilled and smoky with a touch of salt โ€” pure umami explosion! ๐Ÿฃ Tamagoyaki Roll Classic combo of egg and radish โ€” timeless. ๐Ÿฃ Seared Kurodai (Snapper) Incredibly fragrant! The seared skin released all the oils, brushed with soy and wrapped in crisp nori โ€” a triple threat of texture! ๐Ÿคค ๐Ÿฃ Iwashi Roll (Sardine) The star of the meal! Fat, glistening sardine rolled with scallion, ginger, and radish โ€” one bite and I was in heaven. I even stared at the chef hoping for another piece ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿฒ Ikura + Uni Don A bowl of bursting salmon roe and creamy sea urchin โ€” canโ€™t go wrong! Generous portion and so satisfying. ๐Ÿฒ Crab Leg Chawanmushi Smooth and savory steamed egg custard โ€” very comforting. ๐Ÿฒ Squid Rice Roll Felt like eating a savory sticky rice wrap โ€” chewy and crunchy! ๐Ÿฒ Oyster Served with an extra-tangy sauce โ€” interesting, but not my favorite. ๐Ÿ’ต At $110 for lunch, this was a great deal considering LAโ€™s rising prices.
