LA | Taokay Tou Jia | A Taste of Chaoshan, Close to Home 🏠🍲
To be honest, I started with a bit of bias—I absolutely love the “Tou Jia” in Guangzhou, and that name already holds a special place in my heart. 🥢💭 But since both specialize in Chaoshan cuisine, I decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, it was quite satisfying! The wet-fried beef ho fun was flavorful and rich—one of the better versions I’ve had in LA. 🐂🍜 If the satay sauce were a touch lighter, it’d be even better, though I understand flavors can vary across different Chaoshan regions. We were excited to hear they had marinated raw shrimp that day, but sadly it sold out before we could order. 🍤😔 The braised platter was spot-on—especially the pork intestines, tender and not overly greasy. 🧂✨ They also allow you to bring your own seafood for cooking, with reasonable processing fees ($20–$30). Already imagining bringing a king crab next time… 🦀💸 Whenever I’m craving authentic Chaoshan flavors, I’ll be back—hoping for even more delicious experiences ahead! 🌟 #LifeAbroad #LosAngeles #ChaoshanCuisine #CantoneseFood #FoodieFinds #HiddenGems #SouthernCalLife #LAEats #ChineseFood #ComfortFood
