LA | Visit This Japanese Gem Before It Earns a Michelin Star! 🔥
Let me introduce you to a hidden omakase spot tucked away in Alhambra 🍶—one of the first places I booked as soon as I landed in LA! Opened during the pandemic, it’s already raised its prices twice this year. While it’s still under the radar and reservations aren’t too tricky yet, I have a feeling that won’t last long. Go now before it gets that well-deserved star! The meal started with abalone and its liver sauce—a simple yet stunning opener. The abalone was tender and naturally sweet, while the sauce was rich and surprisingly not the least bit briny. One of the standout courses was the dry-aged toro. Aging intensified the fish’s umami, making it deeply flavorful and incredibly smooth. The uni hand roll was another highlight—the rice had been pre-mixed with sea urchin, so every grain was infused with its sweet, oceanic essence. As a uni lover, I was in heaven! We ended with sesame ice cream 🍦—creamy, fragrant, and filled with crunchy toasted sesame bits. A perfect finish. The style here is understated and focused on quality rather than gimmicks. The chef even pairs different types of vinegared rice with specific fish—a thoughtful touch that shows his dedication. The atmosphere was warm and engaging. Both chefs were friendly and conversational, which made the experience even more enjoyable. As an introvert, I don’t always need chatty chefs—but when they’re this kind and genuine, it truly elevates the meal. 🏠:Kogane 📍:1129 S Fremont Ave Unit C, Alhambra, CA 91803 💰:$300 per person #LosAngeles #LAFood #Omakase #SushiLovers #HiddenGems #JapaneseCuisine #PreMichelin #FoodieAlert #LADining #AlhambraEats
