LA – The Hand-Pulled Lamb is Incredible!🥢
Are there any fellow southerners like me who are absolutely obsessed with Northwest Chinese cuisine? Alhambra’s Zhenwei Kitchen, tucked away in an unassuming plaza, is a true hidden gem. It all started with their sesame sauce liangpi (cold skin noodles), and from there I discovered so many authentic Northwest classics: 🥙 Roujiamo (pork burger) 🍜 Yangrou paomo (lamb soup with bread) 🍗 Dapanji (big plate chicken) But the hand-pulled lamb? One bite and I was hooked! Seasoned simply with chili powder and salt, the quality of the meat truly shines through—so tender and satisfying. Their Dapanji is among the best in all of LA—I always take the sauce home to cook noodles with for another two meals! 😆 The cumin lamb pulled noodles are a must-try, and they even serve crawfish over rice that I constantly crave. They also offer a variety of duck snacks like neck, tongue, and feet, and even their chili oil is handmade—a signature touch. The atmosphere is warm and family-run. The husband-and-wife owners are always smiling and love chatting with customers. The cute tableware and wall paintings (created by the owner herself) reflect their passion for life and food. A true come-back-again spot in LA’s San Gabriel Valley!
