LA Food Diary|Must-Visit Spot ✅ Redondo Seafood Market
Been coming to this seafood market for years and have recommended it to countless friends! The vibe is totally no-frills — think bustling, casual, and fresh 🦞🌊. It’s the kind of lively seafood stall vibe I haven’t found since moving to San Francisco. 📍 If you Google it, “Redondo Beach Fish Market” might show closing at 7 PM, but they often stay open until 8–9 PM (Sundays until 9 PM too), so plan accordingly! 🟡 For uni lovers — don’t miss this! They open live sea urchin right in front of you, and you eat it with a spoon 🥄. It’s so fresh the spines are still moving minutes later (intense, I know!). I usually get a medium size (around $30), perfect for one person — still a great deal compared to sushi spots! Eat it plain — the sweetness is unreal. My soul literally levitates every time 😇 🦪 Oyster Bar — a must! Affordable, fresh, and so many varieties. The line can get long — consider tipping the workers in cash (shucking oysters is hard work!). My personal record: 40 oysters between two people 😂 Today we went lighter. 🦞 Garlic Butter Lobster Tails First time trying these! Usually I get crab, but it’s off-season now. Saw someone else’s order and had to get them — two large tails for around $120. Steamed and drenched in butter, kept warm under foil — so tender and bouncy! I was stuffed all the way home 🥹 Next time, one big tail to share will be enough. 🐚 Also great: clams, grilled fish, crab, clam chowder in a bread bowl, roasted corn, and more — come explore! 🧥 Tip: It’s often windy and chilly by the water — bring a jacket! 🥘 Earlier in the day, we had frog leg hotpot at Spice Palace Hotpot in Irvine — tender and flavorful, highly recommend if you’re in the area! Great day catching up with old friends from Nanjing — happy and full! 💛 📍 Frog Hotpot: Spice Palace Hotpot 3967 Irvine Blvd, Irvine, CA 92602 📍 Seafood Market: Quality Seafood 130 International Boardwalk, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 #LAfood #LAlife #Oysters #Uni #ByTheSea 🐟🌅✨
