LA Food Review|Coal-Like Crispy Fried Chicken at a Yakitori Spot 🍗

Came across photos of Hatch’s black fried chicken and got curious! This place is a creative yakitori spot in Downtown LA with a Google rating of 4.4, but honestly, I probably won’t be back. The yakitori selection wasn’t huge, and overall, it was just okay. 📍 Hatch: 700 W 7th St Suite G600, Los Angeles, CA 90017 Food (ranked by preference): ▪️ Binchotan Brownie – $12 My favorite of the meal! The brownie was perfectly sweet and crispy, paired wonderfully with matcha ice cream. ▪️ Black Karaage – $16 Squid-ink black fried chicken — crispy, thin batter, and the black garlic sauce was fragrant and tasty. ▪️ Chicken Meatball – $7 The raw egg dipping sauce was the star — also great for other dishes. Meatball was nicely sized and juicy. ▪️ Corn Tempura – $12 Sweet, tender corn — though it had too much green onion inside for my taste. ▪️ Shishito Pepper – $7 Pretty standard, nothing special. ▪️ Skirt Steak – $18 Beef had a strong gamey taste and the texture was just okay. ▪️ Unagi – $12 The crispy black rice was interesting, but the eel itself was mediocre. Ambiance & Service: Felt a bit chilly inside during winter, and food cooled down quickly. We went in the afternoon, so it wasn’t busy — walk-in was fine, but better to reserve for dinner. Small hiccup — they forgot our beef tongue order, and we only realized when the bill came.😘👌 Average per person: $60–100 💡 Verdict: If you’re nearby or passing through, maybe give it a try (they do takeout too). But overall, it’s pretty average and not the best value. #USATravel #LA #YakitoriSpot #FoodReview #ExploreWithMe #Yakitori #WeekendEats
