LA Izakaya | Cozy Oden Night at Shoya π’
A rainy winter night just calls for a warm bowl of oden! Finally visited Shoya, a long-bookmarked izakaya tucked away in Lomita. The space is tiny β only 9 seats around the bar β so reservations are a must! π§οΈπ The shop is run by just a lovely uncle-and-auntie duo: Auntie handles orders and service, while uncle works magic behind the kitchen curtain. Every time the curtain sways, wonderful aromas drift out β keeping you guessing whatβs coming next! π Service is slow and relaxed β perfect for a night with no rush. Order a bottle of sake, chat, and unwind. You can even take unfinished bottles home or store them here for up to 3 months! πΆ We kept adding dishes all night β everything looked and smelled so good! Ended up staying three whole hours, eating until uncle came out to say goodnight. β¨ Must-try dishes: Dashimaki (Japanese Omelette) β So tender, served with refreshing daikon radish purΓ©e. Grilled Potato Cheese β Rich, melty cheese over soft potatoes β pure comfort! π§ Takowasa (Wasabi Octopus) β A must for wasabi lovers! Tuna & Yam β Silky, stretchy yam mixed with sweet-tasting tuna β unique texture! Ginnan (Grilled Ginkgo Nuts) β Nostalgic, childhood snack vibes. Beef Sukiyaki β Sweet, hot, and soul-warming. Oden favorites: daikon, fried tofu pouch, bamboo shoots, and fish cakes. π Shoya 1920 Pacific Coast Hwy, Lomita, CA 90717 #LosAngeles #LAFood #FoodDiary #JapaneseFood #Izakaya #LateNightEats #CozySpot #OdenLovers #HiddenGemLA #RainyNightEats
