LA Japanese Food Discovery|Incredible Matcha Mochi Kakigori🍧
A hidden gem sushi shop in Pasadena with a super authentic Japanese interior! 🎌 📍 77 N Raymond Ave, CA 91101 💰 Around $200 for 2 people They have counter seats where you can watch the chef handcraft sushi right in front of you! It’s like an affordable omakase experience ✅ The only downside is it’s super popular—recommend calling ahead to make a reservation! I went at 7 PM on a Friday and waited about 40 minutes for a table. 🍣 Deluxe Sushi Set – The Best Value! 10 pieces of different sushi + miso soup for $49 The fish quality is excellent—loved the salmon roe and salmon! *The difference from the Premium Set is that Premium includes 12 pieces with seasonal fish and costs $30 more. 🌈 Rainbow Roll – $20 The only dish I wasn’t thrilled with—no wonder few people order it! Felt a bit too simple and healthy for my taste (I prefer rolls loaded with sauce and tempura 🍤). Not the best value—some toppings were just avocado without fish, and the inside was just crab and cucumber 🥒. Not recommended. 💡 Suggest ordering a sushi set to try everything, then add extra pieces of your favorites! 🍗 Chicken Karaage – $13 Sweet and spicy Korean-style fried chicken—super crispy outside, tender inside. So good! 😋 🍜 Nabeyaki Udon – $19 Tempura hot pot udon noodles! The udon has a great chew, and the dish includes a soft-boiled egg, shrimp tempura 🍤, and fried tofu—all soaked in a sweet broth. Perfect as a warm winter meal~ ❄️ 🥗 Osawa Seaweed Salad My must-order at Japanese restaurants—this one was deliciously prepared! 🍰 Dessert Time – A Highlight! They have pre-made mini jar desserts: Black sesame pudding 🍮 Yuzu jelly Blueberry cheesecake 🍰 They also offer daily freshly made specialties. Their star desserts are: Milk chocolate bread pudding and Matcha Kintoki 🍧 We tried the black sesame pudding and the Kintoki— Kintoki was the absolute winner! 😍 It has matcha ganache, chewy mochi, red bean paste, milk shaved ice, and is garnished with yuzu and strawberries. Looks gorgeous and tastes amazing—instantly transports you to Kyoto! 🏮✨ This place also serves curry rice, eel rice bowls, shabu-shabu hot pot, and a famous uni udon—all sound delicious! 🍛🍲 It’s truly an outstanding Japanese eatery! PS: Our waitress was incredibly friendly—she knew every item on the special menu and described each one with such detail and enthusiasm. She even complimented my curly hair! How could I resist tipping 30%? 😉 (Also, there are so many handsome and beautiful servers here! 👫💕) #LosAngeles #LAEats #LAFood #Pasadena #LATravel #JapaneseFood #FoodDiscovery
