LA Nightlife 🍸|Hidden Gem Vintage Bowling Alley 🎳 + Bar

No. 19/100: Highland Park Bowl If you love retro vibes as much as I do, you can’t miss Highland Park Bowl in Los Angeles! Built in 1927, this bowling alley was one of the entertainment venues designed to serve Highland Park’s rapidly growing population in the early 20th century—nearly 100 years of history! 🕰️✨ The interior is full of character, with punk-style lanes that preserve the era’s charm. While bowling, you can watch the mechanical ball-return system in action—it’s mesmerizing! Inside, there’s also a pool hall, a bar, and multiple bowling lanes. Even if you’re not playing, it’s a great spot for drinks and chats. 🥂🎱 Their fries and pizza are delicious too! 🍕🍟 You’ll often see people celebrating birthdays here—it’s that kind of lively, joyful place. The alley’s connection to alcohol dates back to the Prohibition era. 🥃⚖️ Under strict alcohol controls, enthusiasts would get a “medical prescription” for whiskey from a doctor’s office on the second floor, then “fill” it at the first-floor pharmacy—all to legally enjoy drinks while bowling! In 1933, the venue added live music permits, enriching its cultural vibe. 🎶 Over the decades, it underwent many changes until a major renovation in 2016 restored its early-20th-century charm while adding modern comforts. 📍 Highland Park Bowl 5621 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90042 ⏰ Weekdays: 5 PM–12 AM | Weekends: 12 PM–2 AM (Night owls, rejoice! 🦉) Have you been to Highland Park Bowl or another historic spot in LA that blends fun, drinks, and history?
