LA Pottery Experience | Easy & Fun for Beginners! 🏺

Recently celebrated a friend's birthday with a pottery class — we chose ARTime Barro in Santa Monica! Each session is 1 hour, max 5 people, creating a relaxed small-group vibe. The instructor guides you every step of the way — perfect for first-timers! 😊 🧱 What we made: Everyone gets to complete two pieces — one hand-built piece and one on the automatic pottery wheel! Hand-building: The teacher patiently showed us how to knead, shape, and mold the clay — so therapeutic! Each person gets enough pre-prepared clay for a small cup or bowl (for a vase, you might need extra). Wheel throwing: The wheel spins automatically — no pedal needed! You shape the clay with both hands, pulling it taller, widening or narrowing the opening… It’s incredibly calming and perfect for clearing your mind. 🧘♀️ 🌸 Decorating your work: After shaping, you can use carving tools and stamp molds to add your own designs. I made two bowls — one pig-shaped 🐷 and one wide-rimmed bowl. Already excited to see them after firing! 🖌️ After class: You can choose to paint your pieces yourself (more color options and creative freedom) or have the studio paint them for you (super convenient!). Once fired, they’ll notify you to schedule a pick-up or painting session. 📌 Good to know: Wear clothes that can get a little dirty — clay is part of the fun! Shorter nails are easier, but long nails work too (sponges provided). Tie up long hair so it doesn’t get in the way. Such a fulfilling and relaxing experience — highly recommend for a creative weekend activity! Already thinking of coming back to make an incense holder. ✨ 📍 ARTime Barro 302 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405 #LosAngeles #PotteryClass #GetMessy #HandmadeCeramics #Pottery #DIYPottery #WeekendFun #LALife #CreativeDate #SantaMonica
