LA Special | The Ultimate Korean Food
📍 710 S. Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90005 One of the must-visit Korean spots in LA — Sun Nong Dan’s Galbi Jjim truly lives up to its reputation as the “Korean food ceiling.” I went on a random afternoon and the place was still packed and buzzing — almost every table taken! 🥘 Signature Galbi Jjim (Medium) + Cheese Their Galbi Jjim is made with marinated beef short ribs, potatoes, scallions, carrots, onions, and Korean rice cakes, slow-braised in a secret sauce. We ordered the Medium (2–3 people portion) and added cheese — highly recommend adding cheese! It’s a flavor and visual feast. After ordering, banchan arrived: spicy raw octopus, kimchi, dipping sauces — all tasty and distinct. About 10 minutes later, the legendary giant pot came out — the portion genuinely stunned me. It’s huge! 🍚 White or purple rice — I went with purple rice. The cheese was torched right at the table — felt like a performance watching it melt into golden, stretchy strings. The aroma instantly filled the air. 🥩 The beef ribs are thick, chewy, and get more flavorful as you eat. Other beef pieces in the pot are also well-seasoned, though not as standout as the ribs. The potatoes and rice cakes are coated in that rich, sweet-spicy sauce — every bite is deeply satisfying. That said, the portion is massive — we ended up taking leftovers home. It’s truly delicious, though it can get a bit heavy toward the end. 💰 Around $60 per person (including tip). Hearty, flavorful, and highly recommended for first-timers in LA — you won’t be disappointed. 🔎 Side note — We’ve been promoting the Yammii POS restaurant system in LA and NYC’s food scenes lately.
