LA Surprise Japanese Spot 🦞 Got to Try Wagyu Shabu! 🍲
This Japanese restaurant is right near my place — I’ve passed by often, and finally tried it with a friend today. As soon as we sat down, we were recommended the winter-limited Wagyu Shabu Shabu — Miyazaki Wagyu version $98 | Prime Ribeye version $48. We were already here, so why not try the Wagyu! 🍲 Served in a clay pot with pre-boiled broth, a beautifully marbled plate of Wagyu, and a veggie platter (napa cabbage, enoki, shimeji mushrooms, tofu). The Wagyu only needs a quick dip — enjoy it with a raw egg for extra richness! They also offer takeout for the shabu — definitely ordering that to enjoy at home next time 😄 🦞 Lobster Sashimi — fresh, crisp, and sweet. Perfect with a bit of wasabi. 🦪 Uni Oysters — Santa Barbara uni, super plump, sweet and briny, topped with popping ikura. 🥩 Beef Cubes — best eaten hot (tender and juicy, less ideal once cooled). 🐟 Smelt (Shishamo) — one of my favorites, packed with roe! 🍦 Matcha Ice Cream — imported from Japan, not too sweet at all. They also have holiday party platters for takeout — perfect for Christmas gatherings 🎄 📍 KIYO Japanese Cuisine 815 W Naomi Ave #A, Arcadia, CA 91007 #KIYOJapanese #WagyuShabu #ArcadiaEats #UniOysters #LobsterSashimi #JapaneseComfort
