LA Thai Food — Pearl Thai Eatery
Checked out this cute, minimalist Thai spot located in Old Pasadena. Overall: lovely atmosphere with jazz music in the background, good service, but sadly — the food just wasn't tasty. BTW, it's dog-friendly 🐶 — they even brought my pup a bowl of water! You could try it once if curious, but let's just say... the flavor has almost nothing to do with what you'd expect from good Thai food. 🌿 Ambiance: 4/5 🍽️ Food: 2/5 💁 Service: 4/5 💰 Price: $$ 🅿️ Parking: 4/5 — street parking or paid lot across the street 🥣 Tom Yum Soup – Fresh ingredients, clear broth (no coconut milk, which I liked), but too salty. 🦐 Thai Shrimp Rolls – Rolls were too wide, shrimp filling was sparse. Hard to bite through neatly — ended up messy. Eating them deconstructed felt like just having a veggie salad… not worth it. 🍣 Thai Pan-Seared Salmon – Salmon coated in a crispy layer with Thai sweet chili sauce — oddly reminded me of Chinese sweet & sour pork ) 😅. 🥭 Mango Sticky Rice – Rice wasn’t soft or sticky enough, mango pieces were small and not very sweet. The coconut sauce lacked both coconut fragrance and creaminess — total miss. #LosAngeles #ThaiRestaurant #ThaiFood #LAThaiFood 🍛
