LA Yakitori — TABERU
There are tons of amazing restaurants near Little Tokyo in LA. Today, since my buddy and I happened to finish work around the same time, and I had Fastrak so the drive from the SGV to DTLA was smooth, we chose this yakitori spot. Overall, the food was decent but not mind-blowing. As expected from a Japanese chain, everything felt professional — flavors, decor, menu, staff training — but it lacked that cozy, lived-in warmth you get from a family-run izakaya. My Cantonese friend said the dishes tasted very light, almost Cantonese-style 😂. The beef stew with daikon — honestly, I’m convinced it was a Cantonese dish (wouldn’t recommend ordering it). Personally, I really liked the fried tofu — the broth was made with kelp, super savory and natural, no MSG overload. Highly recommended! (Though my Cantonese friend said he couldn’t taste much flavor 😅) The fried chicken came with a sauce made from egg yolk and special seasoning — totally unique, unlike any other version I’ve tried.😁👌 We also ordered the fresh fish salad — tasted very clean and simple. The dressing felt house-made, not too creamy (lower calorie vibe). Their specialty drinks were just okay for me. My friend’s had mango chunks — honestly, I couldn’t taste the alcohol, but he said his was strong. Later, I tried a Valentine’s Day special — strawberry + coconut milk + vodka — pretty nice, not too sweet, with a gentle buzz. But the real star was their tiramisu! The cream was rich and luxurious — eating it felt like biting into a sweet, fluffy cloud ☁️. It’s my favorite tiramisu in LA! Some Italian places make theirs too boozy, or the coffee layer is too strong, or the biscuit base isn’t soft enough… but this one? Just perfect — exactly how I love it. #Yakitori #Izakaya #JapaneseFood #HiddenGemEats #VibeDining #LAEats #LAFoodFinds 🏮
