Find Things to DoFind The Best Restaurants

London’s niche cuisine scene has reached the next level

Delicious, not expensive, and refined – it’s a solid 9 out of 10🫡 This Burmese restaurant has surpassed Vietnamese and Thai cuisine👏🏻 I walked in, planning to make a reservation, but it required leaving card details, so I just went for the afternoon session, embracing the ‘if I get a table, great; if not, oh well’ principle🐷 Average cost per person: £35 (including service charge, no drinks ordered; there’s a £1 donation on the bill, remember to remove it if you don’t wish to donate) Before 5 PM, there’s a lunch menu where you can choose a main dish plus a side dish (forgot to take a photo, not sure if it’s available on weekends) We ordered the shrimp + tea leaf salad/curry chicken noodles + tofu for two sets, and added an extra fish dish (the shrimp set is a little over £20, the noodle set is a little over £17) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Whole Fried Bream It’s like a sea lion clapping in approval – the fish skin is crispy, so crispy that my friend even bit into the middle fishbone. The meat is tender, and the saltiness is just right (I’m getting hungry just writing about this) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 King Prawn Curry The prawns are succulent, and the sauce is tomato-based. It can be a bit too sour and salty if you dip too much, but it doesn’t matter because the prawns are delicious on their own! There are even edamame beans in the sauce – a pleasant surprise! The sauce is perfect with rice. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Coconut Noodles with Curry The large, grid-like pieces never softened, which I think is mainly because the soup wasn’t hot enough (anyone know if there’s a proper name for these large pieces?) The chicken is delicious, but the coconut flavor isn’t very strong – it’s a common taste in Southeast Asian noodle soups. 🌟🌟🌟 Shan Tofu The tofu is just okay; I found it tasted more like sweet potato (maybe it’s sweet potato masquerading as tofu?) 🌟🌟🌟 Lahpet Thohk (Tea Leaf Salad) A very novel experience, the dressing is quite acidic (I used to chew on tea leaves in my grandfather’s tea when I was young, so eating tea leaves isn’t new to me) The only downside is that their disposable chopsticks are really not great; they were falling apart before I even started using them. Overall, very gooooood! There was no hint of greasiness by the end, just a desire for more. All the seasonings and sauces were just right. Everyone, just go for it!!! #UnitedKingdom #BritishLife #London #LondonLife #LondonExploration #FoodDiary #LondonFoodie #BabyFood
