London | This Restaurant is Simply Delicious ⭐️

First time trying West African cuisine, and I'm very impressed. There's a reason it's been a Michelin one-star restaurant for two years in a row. I booked a counter seat so I could watch the action. The service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. 🫶🏻 Smoked Mackerel, Vatapà, Moimoi: Moimoi is a soft porridge made from black beans. It's served with a rich sauce that's unexpectedly smooth. The smoked mackerel has a slightly charred surface from the grill. Each bite is full of umami, which I personally really enjoyed. 🫶🏻 Short Rib, Purple Carrot, Jollof Rice: The most surprising part of this dish was the smoked purple carrot coated with shrimp sauce! The short rib is tender and full of rich, smoky aromas. The rice that comes with it has its own instruction manual. Crispy rice, leeks, and spices create a clay pot rice-like experience. Uda, Chocolate, Coffee: If I remember correctly, Uda is some kind of corn? In any case, the dessert ingredients all come from West African countries. The accompanying ice cream is a bit sweet, but the mousse is not too sweet. Chapman The non-alcoholic soft drink that comes with it gets better once the ice melts. A Nigerian specialty drink: cucumber, lemon, pomegranate. Overall drawbacks: It's a bit noisy, but also very lively. Some dishes are a bit salty, you can request less salt. 💰£80 (Short Menu including drinks) #UK #LifeInTheUK #LondonFood #MichelinOneStar #Michelin #MichelinRestaurantExploration #AtmosphericRestaurant #LondonLife #MichelinInLondon
