London Delights | Japanese Cuisine Near Selfridges
I can't say it enough β it's truly delicious! Despite being super trendy, the flavors live up to its reputation and price tag. π π Taka Marylebone - Wagyu Sandwich Their most famous dish is the Wagyu sandwich, which is one-of-a-kind in London. It's even better than what I had at Lao Gan Bei back home. The A5 Wagyu beef is rich in marbling, so you should eat it immediately when it arrives β don't let it get cold for photos! π - Bluefin Tuna Tartare I remember they used to serve toasted nori sheets, which you could use to make little hand rolls. Now, it comes with crispy lotus root chips, which add a complex texture to the tuna. Even though it's akami (lean tuna), the seasoning eliminates any fishy taste, making it friendly for all palates. π£ - Tuna Chu-Toro Don / A5 Wagyu Don I'll talk about these two donburi bowls together. I think they offer unbeatable value for money. Personally, I prefer the Wagyu don β the beef is stir-fried in sukiyaki sauce and topped with a soft-boiled egg, making the rice bowl unbeatable. You can also pair it with toasted nori to make a hand roll. For tuna lovers, the chu-toro don offers a progression of flavors compared to the previous tuna tartare. π± - California Roll / Dragon Roll The California roll uses real snow crab legs instead of imitation crab, and the tobiko (flying fish roe) on top is marinated in yuzu juice, giving it a refreshing taste. My friend raved about the dragon roll, which is topped with deep-fried scallion threads and teriyaki sauce for a rich flavor. π - Yuzu Basque Cake The dessert is definitely a highlight. The Basque cake, supplied by the popular Notting Hill Japanese bakery hachi, is caramelized with a blowtorch, making it slightly melted. Paired with strawberry ice cream, it balances the richness of the traditional Basque cake with a refreshing tangy sweetness. π° - Cocktails Their cocktails are quite interesting, with several versions of classic cocktails made with sake, yuzu liqueur, or plum wine as the base. My favorite is the Kyoto Sour β definitely worth a try! πΈ - Venue: Taka Marylebone π΄ Average Price: Β£70-90 per person #UKLife #LondonFood #LondonEats #100RestaurantsChallenge #JapaneseCuisine #LondonJapanese #LocalFoodRecommendation
