London Dining | Lurra, the Ultimate Spanish Basque Restaurant 🔥
Lurra is located in Marylebone, just a 5-minute walk from Marble Arch station. It doesn’t have any Michelin stars, but it’s listed in the recommendation guides. The restaurant excels in traditional Basque cooking, especially charcoal grilling, and advocates using organic, natural, and healthy ingredients to bring a refined dining experience. Overall, the environment is great, and the food quality is even better. I left completely satisfied and loved it so much that I’ll definitely be back. 🍽️ 1️⃣ Sourdough Bone Marrow 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The rustic sourdough comes with two big bones. One is more charred with a blackened surface, while the other is more tender. Let everyone choose according to their preference. I prefer the more charred one, as the charcoal brings out the full flavor of the fat, which pairs perfectly with the chewy bread. 💯 2️⃣ Ribeye 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The restaurant’s signature Chuletón is made from mature beef (Galician cows over 14 years old). The meat is firm with even fat distribution, dry-aged for 45 days, and finally charcoal-grilled. The exterior is crispy, and the inside is juicy. The color is incredibly tempting, and the taste is beyond words—tender, bouncy, and full of meaty flavor. It’s much better than British steak. When it arrived, two of us cleared the plate in no time, which shows how delicious it is. Highly recommended! They also have a large T-bone, perfect for sharing with a group. I must try it next time. 🍖 3️⃣ Fries 🌟🌟🌟🌟 I just wanted some fries, and they were good—crispy and well-seasoned with perfect saltiness. But they’re not a signature dish. 🍟 4️⃣ Calçots with Romesco Sauce 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The sweet calçots (green onions) come with classic Spanish romesco sauce. The grilled onions are aromatic and flavorful. If you’re not a fan of strong onion flavors, I wouldn’t recommend it. But I think it’s delicious and unique. The sauce is amazing—rich with nutty aroma, and it’s sweet, salty, and tangy, which is very appetizing. The combination with the unique flavor of the onions is perfect. I love it! 🌿 5️⃣ Basque Cake 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The main event! It’s said to be the best Basque cake in London. The crust is crispy and crackly, which really surprised me. You kind of have to put some effort into breaking it open. The inside is soft, dense, and full of milky flavor. It’s really enjoyable. The sweetness is a bit high for me, but sharing one piece between two people is just right. 🍰 #HiddenGemRestaurant #LondonRestaurantRecommendation #LondonFood #MustTryRestaurantsInLondon #LondonMustEatFood #LondonRestaurantExploration #LondonDining #LondonFoodGuide #AmbianceRestaurant #Foodie #RestaurantReview #SpanishRestaurant
