Disappointing Service Undermined the Entire Experience
I recently dined at Lurra, and while the food was satisfactory, the overall experience was severely compromised by the subpar service. Upon being seated and provided with menus, we waited for over 15 minutes before the waiter finally approached our table. Unfortunately, his demeanor was far from welcoming, and instead of offering any recommendations or guidance, he simply stood there, unengaged. When we inquired about the different steak options, he appeared confused and was unable to clearly explain the choices.
We also ordered a bottle of wine, and when the waiter attempted to open it, he spilled a significant amount of wine on both the table and the floor, as though it was his first time opening a bottle. This incident was indicative of the overall lack of professionalism we experienced throughout the lunch.
Despite our hopes that the service might improve, it did not. The level of attention provided was minimal, despite there being only four occupied tables in the entire restaurant. After finishing our meal, we found it exceedingly difficult to get the waiter’s attention to request the bill, which resulted in an additional 15-minute wait while the staff appeared to be snacking in the kitchen.
When the bill finally arrived, I asked if a service charge was included, to which the waiter confirmed it was. I requested its removal due to the numerous service issues we had encountered. When he returned, rather than addressing the concerns, he inquired rudely about the specific issues we had experienced. I explained the delays, the lack of service, and the mishap with the wine, but instead of apologizing, the waiter became defensive and abruptly walked away.
As we were leaving, the waiter, who was casually drinking water at the bar, did not offer a proper farewell. Instead, he made a dismissive remark and began to argue that his six years of experience justified the service we received. Given this experience, it's understandable why the restaurant was nearly empty.
While the food at Lurra was decent, the entire dining experience was overshadowed by the unprofessional and inattentive service. It’s unfortunate that such service is causing the establishment to lose customers. I would not recommend Lurra to others based on...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. I never leave bad reviews, but this experience was so appalling that I feel a duty to warn others. We had a reservation for dinner and were left standing for over 15 minutes while the receptionist repeatedly told us to wait for the manager (who never appeared). Eventually she sat us — so what exactly were we waiting for?
We had booked a courtyard table, which turned out to be nothing more than a cheap plastic tent slapped in a grim backyard. No greenery, no ambiance, just walls and suffocating smoke smells clinging to your clothes and hair across the entire restaurant (most tables in the courtyard were also asking for an alternative table). It felt more like a sad pop-up in someone’s driveway than a high-end Spanish restaurant. Worst of all? The grill. It’s literally just a small, embarrassing setup outside the tent, like something you’d see in a street stall — absolutely not what you’d expect from a supposedly upscale place.
And let’s talk about the food. For £170 sirloin, we expected something remotely edible. What we got was an undercooked flavourless slab with blood running (even though we ordered it medium). The rest of the dishes were painfully average at best.
We asked to move inside due to allergies as a dog was sat next to us and were told there were “no tables available” — even though several tables inside were clearly empty. Only when we pushed back and asked to leave did two tables “suddenly” become available. At that point, we’d lost all appetite — even the desserts on nearby tables looked miserable.
The waitstaff were very rude, and the manager was the worst of all — dismissive, defensive, and completely indifferent to our concerns. No apology. No sense of hospitality. Not even a goodbye as we left after spending nearly £300.
Avoid at all costs. This is hands down the worst dining experience I’ve had in London, and I’ve been to many. Lurra is a scam disguised as a restaurant, and the management clearly...
Read moreI am writing to express my extreme disappointment and dissatisfaction with my recent dining experience at your establishment.
My party and I arrived at your restaurant with a carry-on luggage, and upon arrival, we were informed that it was not allowed inside. Your staff suggested that we leave it at the reception, and we trusted their instructions as we believed we were in good hands at a reputable Michelin recommended restaurant.
However, to our dismay, our luggage was stolen after we entered the restaurant, and your staff did not even notice until I enquired about it. The restaurant director was not respectful or responsible for the theft and even went as far as blaming us for leaving our luggage at the reception and questioning why we brought it to the restaurant in the first place.
Melody Adams was here, the Director at Lurra, she seems doesn't care it all, not even saying a 'Sorry' for the incident
The entire ordeal took three hours to resolve, and we had to involve the police. To add insult to injury, we were informed that the restaurant was closed and that there would be no meals for us.
As a Michelin restaurant, I expected a higher standard of service and accountability from your establishment. It is unacceptable for a restaurant to allow theft to occur on its premises without taking any responsibility or offering any compensation for the loss.
I request that you take this matter seriously and take immediate steps to make amends for the poor experience we had at your restaurant. Or even just an apology for the accident.I look forward to hearing from you...
